Halim seeds Ladoo (Garden cress seeds or Aliv)

Garden cress seeds or Halim or Aliv ladoos are loaded with iron, and is also an excellent source of folic acid, vitamins C , A and vitamin E, dietary fiber, phosphorous, magnesium, calcium and protein.

Ingredients

1. 3/4 cup garden cress seeds
2. 1 tbsp ghee
3. 1/2 cup roughly chopped jaggery (gur)
4. 1/4 cup semolina (rava / sooji)
5. 1 tbsp desiccated coconut
6. 1/4 cup coarsely powdered almonds (badam)

Directions

1. To make halim ladoos, soak the garden cress seeds in Ā½ cup of water in a deep bowl for 3 hours. Do not drain the water. .
2. Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick pan, add the soaked garden cress seeds, jaggery and semolina, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 6 to 7 minutes or till the jaggery melts, while stirring continuously.
3. Add the coconut and almonds and mix well.
4. Transfer the mixture onto a plate and keep aside to cool slightly.
5. Divide the mixture into 16 equal portions and shape each portion into a round ball.
6. Serve the halim ladoos or store in an air-tight container.
